Robosen needed an app that felt futuristic, intuitive, and true to the Lightyear universe. CRISPx brought it to life with emotionally-driven design and cinematic UI.
Robosen’s Buzz Lightyear robot offers more than just toy-level interactivity. It comes to life through a companion app that lets users control movements, trigger animations, and access immersive features. CRISPx was brought in to design this digital experience, transforming complex functionality into a user-friendly interface inspired by the Lightyear universe.

The challenge was twofold: create a control interface that’s intuitive enough for young users while remaining engaging and polished for adult fans and collectors. At the same time, the design needed to feel like a seamless extension of the Lightyear film, reinforcing the sci-fi narrative and iconic character design while remaining technically sound and scalable across devices.

Guided by our DOSE Method, we focused on emotional engagement, intuitive usability, and immersive design, creating an app experience that felt seamless, accessible, and true to the Buzz Lightyear universe.
Version 2 | Day and Night cycle proposal
The final product was more than an app. It served as an emotional bridge between the physical toy and the story world. The cinematic interface and intuitive controls elevated playtime and contributed to strong market reception. Approved by Disney, Pixar, and Robosen, and loved by consumers, the app was praised for its ease of use, immersive visuals, and the way it brought Buzz Lightyear’s personality to life in a meaningful and interactive way.
